Moss' Prime Rib & Spaghetti House - CLOSED

Restaurant Impossible Moss' Prime Rib & Spaghetti House

Episode Summary

Chef Robert Irvine visits Moss Prime Rib and Spaghetti House in Elyria, Ohio, open since 1958, the restaurant was once a landmark in the town. Robert finds that after the owners Sam and Sandi bought the business (name and recipes) and moved the restaurants location, it is struggling. The food is average, the décor is shabby but the main problem is that owners Robert and Sandi are stubborn and are reluctant to make much needed changes. Sandi often lashes out at staff but by the end of the episode you see her softer side. The menu and decor was updated and Sandi called in her  brother to help.

What Happened Next?

After Robert visited, Yelp reviews seem to indicate that the majority of customers loved the changes that they made. However, they closed on April 13th 2013.

The Chatterbox Windham - CLOSED

Restaurant Impossible The Chatterbox Windham

Episode Summary

Chef Robert Irvine visits The Chatterbox Windham in Windham, New Hampshire, to help turn around The Chatterbox. The restaurant was bought by Lynn after the death of her husband, she thought the restaurant would bring a reliable source of income for her family and give her sons a place of employment. For a pleasant change, the decor wasn't terrible, just a tad boring. The biggest problem, however, was the food, nothing was seasoned and the staff, simply didn't respect Lynn and walked all over her. Robert made big changes to both the menu and worked with Lynn on her management skills.

What Happened Next?

After Robert's visit, reviews on Yelp were mixed. Lynn has said that the makeover was mostly cosmetic and didn't focus on managerial skills to help her continue, which she is learning on her own.  It appears from what I have read online that a truck drove into the restaurant and they decided not to reopen.

Anna Maria's Restaurant - CLOSED

Restaurant Impossible Anna Maria's Restauran

Episode Recap

Chef Robert Irvine visits Anna Maria's in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, where he finds the filthiest restaurant he has visited so far and a restaurant stuck under the shadow of it's former glory. The décor is very shabby and the kitchen is so dirty that Robert vomits everywhere and takes the drastic step to shut down the service. Robert refuses to let anyone cook in the kitchen until it has been deep cleaned so they have to borrow another local restaurants kitchen to practise new dishes for the restaurant's new menu.

What Happened Next?

The owner Jack sadly passed away before the show was aired. Business tripled after the airing of the show and there have been accusations that the state of the kitchen had been exaggerated for the episode and that the grime shown was staged by the producers for the show. It appears that before closing they reverted to their old menu and Roberts additions to the menu were all removed.

Del's Restaurant - OPEN

Restaurant Impossible Del's Restaurant

Episode Recap

Chef Robert Irvine visit's Del's restaurants in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a restaurant that has been operating for 61 years. The food and decor is in need of attention but the biggest problem is the owner Marianne. The pressure from the struggles of the restaurant leads her to shouting at the staff and creating an atmosphere that is unappealing to customers so unsurprisingly customers are staying away. They claim that using the microwave saves time and they can the get food out quicker to customers. Robert challenges this and they have a race: Microwave versus Cooking from scratch. Robert won this race and proved that you can cook from fresh quicker than using the microwave. They have other strange kitchen practices including putting ice cubes into sauce to cool it down, what is wrong with the fridge? Robert gives the menu and restaurant a makeover and works with Marianne to improve her management skills.

What Happened Next?

Since Robert visited, Yelp reviews are mixed, negative reviews seem to criticise the quality of food and hit and miss service. Reviews seem to suggest that they have kept the decor and menu that Robert put in place on the show.

Episode Recap

In the present day, all he finds is sub par food but worse than the food is the dining room, which is dark and gloomy and the table side service is very outdated. Who spends $1000 a month on tablecloths? Jeez. The decor, menu and website were given makeovers by Robert and are much improved after the change.

Robert also gives the restaurant a makeover and adds a hot bar, which is a big improvement. Robert also asks Ann to step down to allow Kelly to step up and run the restaurant.

The restaurant closed in July 2013 after failing a health inspection with a disgusting 42 de-merits/violations including roaches and rodent droppings, which is a shame as it was a problem before Robert arrived and after all of his help they went back to their old unsanitary ways.
