Restaurant Impossible - Meglio's - CLOSED

Meglio's Restaurant Impossible
Chef Robert Irvine visits Meglio's in Bridgeton, Missouri, an Italian restaurant in desperate need of his help. The restaurant is stuck in the past, serving "old family recipes" that were once popular in their previous restaurant but serving them straight from bags in the freezer. All of the food on the menu is frozen and simply reheated in the microwave, nothing is prepared fresh on site.

In order to turn the restaurant around Robert helps retrain the staff in the kitchen to work with fresh ingredients and revamps the menu to feature less items and all  dishes are to be cooked from fresh.

What Happened Next?

Yelp, Urban Spoon and Trip Advisor reviews are mixed since Robert visited the restaurant. After Robert left, owner John Meglio brought back the beef cannelloni even though the dish is frozen claiming that locals enjoy eating frozen pasta and have been doing so for over 50 years. He also changed other dishes claiming that locals are reluctant for too much change. The restaurant closed in January 2015 and was put up for lease.

Frederick’s Steakhouse & Pizzeria has since opened in its place and reviews are mixed.

This episode was episode 5 of season 1 and was aired on February 16 2011, there were 7 episodes in the season, airing from January to March 2011 and the closure rate for Restaurant Impossible Season 1 currently stands at 86%.
