Fresco Da Franco is owned by Franco.

Montclair, New Jersey is home to housewives and hipsters.

The owner, Franco wants what is best for his restaurant.

He is just not sure how to improve things at the restaurant.

Monti needs to get to the root of the problems that they have.

She has surveillance cameras set up all over the restaurant to capture every moment.

Franco says that Fresco starts with the highest quality of food and service.

He says that some people are really hard on them with the reviews.

Franco says that this restaurant is an unforgettable dining experience.

It used to be a great little restaurant with amazing service and awesome food.

Monti meets with Franco at the restaurant.

Monti has six Yelpers in the restaurant reviewing the food and service right now.

She shows him the surveillance footage from their tables.

They think that the menu is way too long and the food is bland.

The customers are so unimpressed that they are spitting out the food.

Monti thinks they need to speak to their Yelpers.

The Yelpers read the reviews to Franco.

They give an average of 2 stars.

Monti says that she doesn’t think that the staff are well trained.

The menu is too big for the kitchen to execute dishes to perfection.

None of these reviews will be posted but it gives them an idea of how they are doing.

Monti’s first step is tackling the menu.

She plans to reduce the menu from 50 dishes to just 20 dishes.

Monti and Franco sit down with the servers.

She explains the reviews to them and tells them some of the issues were with service.

Ronnie says he is lucky he has a job here because he hasn’t been the best employee.

Monti says that they have the opportunity here to do something remarkable.

Before they open, Monti wants to get into the kitchen.

The Yelper’s had some big issues with the food’s flavor and consistency.

She will work with the staff on adding flavor to the dishes.

Monti shows the cook how to properly make the dishes on the menu.

Whether Franco likes it or not, Monti has made some changes to the restaurant.

It’s time to open up for dinner service.

Franco is under the impression that they want to monitor the progress at his restaurant.

He doesn’t know that Monti have invited six new Yelpers to dine there.

This time their reviews will get posted onto Yelp.

Monti shows Franco the new reduced in size menu.

Franco admits that he doesn’t like change.

It’s going to be a busy Friday night at Fresco.

Franco is in charge of expediting in the kitchen.

He will be the person coordinating the flow of food from the kitchen to the dining room.

Monti heads to the back of the restaurant to watch her six hungry Yelpers have dinner.

Franco has abandoned his post in the kitchen and is nowhere to be found.

The tables are sitting and waiting for their food.

There’s no food on the tables and Franco has walked out.

Monti heads inside the restaurant.

She is forced to start expediting so that the diners receive their food.

Monti confronts Franco about him walking out of the kitchen.

Franco says he thinks Monti is out of line.

Monti says that you cannot leave the staff like this.

She also says that his staff are looking for a leader and Franco is not there for them.

Monti says that she knows Franco is used to getting his way.

Monti says she did all that she could do.

The dinner service is finished.

Monti reveals to the staff and Franco that she had undercover Yelpers here.

Fresco earned an average of 3.5 stars

Franco was able to pull it together for one night.

Only time will tell how committed he is to his restaurant and his staff.

Help My Yelp The Pearl Restaurant and Lounge

In this Help My Yelp episode, Monti Carlo visits Pearl Restaurant and Lounge in Castleberry Hill, Atlanta.

Pearl Restaurant and Lounge is owned by Dishema.

Castleberry Hill is a neighborhood full of boutiques, art galleries, trendy restaurants and a vibrant nightlife.

It’s got close to a thousand hotspots.

With hit or miss food and shoddy service, it is getting blasted with two and one star Yelp ratings.

The Pearl needs Monti’s help.

Monti meets with owner Dishema.

Dishema has been there for ten years.

Their signature dishes are their snow crabs, macaroni and cheese, kale and candied yams.

Their menu is full of comfort food staples.

They added a lounge space to try and draw in a different crowd.

Dishema says that the area has turned into a busy nightlife spot.

Monti thinks that the restaurant has an identity crisis.

Dishema has to get back in the game to make the restaurant more successful on Yelp.

Dishema introduces Monti to the staff.

Monti asks them to make her some food to eat so she can see if the food is an issue.

Monti says that the fried shrimp is a delight and is very impressed with the dish.

Dishema has invested over $300,000 into the restaurant at this point.

Dishema reads the Yelp reviews.

Monti tells Dishema that they have set up surveillance cameras in the restaurant.

She also tells them that there are Yelp reviewers in the restaurant to give it a review.

The Yelp reviewers order their food.

The shrimp are microwaved.

They are not impressed as the shrimp are tough.

The table does not have any silverware on for them to use with their food.

The staff are helping themselves to the liquor during the service.

The food is bad, the service is terrible and the whole staff is having a party.

Monti says that you can’t watch that surveillance footage and not think that everything needs to change.

Monti tells Dishema about the Yelpers that have been in the restaurant.

Dishema says she takes negative reviews very personally.

She is confident in her food.

The Yelpers tell her that the scallops had no flavor.

Dishema says that she has lost control over the restaurant.

Overall, the reviewers give the restaurant an average of just two stars.

Dishema says that the most shocking thing about the Yelp reviews was the fact that people’s food wasn’t cooked properly.

The next day, Monti says she is going to help Dishema reenergize.

They will update the Pearl so it can work both as a restaurant and a nightspot.

Her first stop and first place that needs changes is the kitchen.

Monti shows Dishema and Derek the right way to cook the shrimp.

Monti wants to change things up just a little bit and give the customers a new flavor profile to enjoy.

Monti shows Dishema how to make a new sauce.

She shows Dishema some finger food that would work well on the menu.

Monti says that change isn’t going to happen overnight but the most important step is that first step.

The Pearl started out as a neighborhood restaurant but now that neighborhood is all about nightlife.

Some small-plate options will give her lounge customers a whole new experience.

Monti says that tonight’s dinner service will have three more tables of Yelpers in to review the service.

However, this time their reviews will be posted on Yelp and will count towards their score.

Dishema has a pre-service meeting with her staff before the Yelpers arrive.

The Yelpers arrive, are seated and order their food.

Derek is prepping an order of the steak small-plate for their first two Yelpers.

The food has a lot of flavor.

The staff is still taking shots of liquor on the clock.

Monti heads down into the restaurant to address this with Dishema.

Dishema says that this is something she is not okay with.

Monti tells her that she needs her to address this during the service.

Dishema confronts the employee about their drinking during the service.

The food is flavorful and the diners are impressed.

The servers are really caring about the service now and are much improved.

Monti tells Dishema the ratings that the diners have given them.

Dishema’s overall Yelp rating went from 2 stars on the first service to 2.5 stars on the second.

What Happened Next at Pearl Restaurant and Lounge?

The staff has pride in their work.

Delkwood Grill - Help My Yelp Update - Open or Closed?

Help My Yelp The Delkwood Grill

In this Help My Yelp episode, Monti Carlo visits Delkwood Grill in Marietta, Georgia.

Delkwood Grill is owned by Dawn Benz.

Just a few minutes away, construction on a major sports stadium is nearly complete.

This promises to bring new life to local restaurants like The Delkwood Grill.

However, their average three star rating surrounded by four star options is keeping it on the sidelines.

This stadium has the potential to bring in over 3million hungry baseball fans.

Dawn that they serve American fare and have great burgers.

They also have wings and pot roast baked in the oven, just like mom used to make.

The restaurant is empty despite it being a Saturday.

Dawn says she hasn’t done anything yet to attract the crowd from the stadium.

The Delkwood does not exist in the millennial world.

Dawn says that she isn’t sure how to get the new generation in here.

Dawn’s father opened Delkwood Grill in 1988.

Business was booming when he ran the restaurant.

Unfortunately, they lost their dad around 10 years ago.

The restaurant is exactly the same as it was when Dawn’s dad was there.

Dawn says if it’s not broken, don’t fix it and she hasn’t changed a thing.

Monti says she needs to see what is going on in the kitchen.

She wants to try the burger that she claims they are famed for.

Monti says that this burger is perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper.

However as Chris overhandled the meat, it’s absolutely dry.

Monti tells them she is going to install some surveillance cameras.

She wants to see the reality of what’s actually happening in the restaurant.

Monti tells them she will have some elite Yelp reviewers come in to review the restaurant.

Dawn says that this experience is frightening.

She doesn’t know if she wants to see everything that is going on behind the scenes.

The Yelp reviewers are not happy with the restaurant.

The burger looks like it is made out of cardboard and doesn’t taste much better.

They wrap up the hidden camera surveillance and sit down with the owner.

They will get to hear what the Yelpers think of their experience at the restaurant.

Dawn is very worried about this because the Yelp reviewers scare her.

They give the restaurant an average of 2 stars.

Monti says that they will have them ready for when the stadium opens.

Monti says she is ready to get her hands dirty by fixing the issues at Delkwood Grill.

Monti tells Paul she wants him to start watching his language.

She gives him a swear jar and he will put money in whenever he swears.

Monti shows Chris the right way to make the burgers that will improve the taste and appearance.

Dawn says she hates change and that it’s very hard to change from the way they have always done things.

The burgers aren’t the only problem at the Delkwood Grill.

They’ve also been getting a lot of complaints about the pot roast.

Monti shows them a new recipe for the pot roast.

She massages the pot roast with siracha.

Dawn says that the pot roast tastes amazing.

The next service is about to begin and the changes that have been made will be trialed.

Monti is sending in another round of Yelp reviewers.

This time, those reviews are going to count as they will be posted.

Chris quickly goes back to the old ways of making burgers.

He seems resistant to changing to the new ways.

Monti heads into the restaurant.

She tells Chris to stop using the press and hides it from him.

The customers like the pot roast and the new recipe.

Monti tells Dawn and the staff that she feels like they really went beyond during the service.

She tells them about the Yelp reviewers.

She tells them the reviews.

Overall, they got three stars.

This is an improvement on the previous score.

Dawn says that she thought she was a little more modern than she obviously is.

Monti tells her that you don’t fix a restaurant overnight.

You incorporate little fixes throughout time to slowly improve and keep at it.

What Happened Next at Delkwood Grill?

Two months later, the Home Run Butter Burger is cleaning up.

The swear jar remains and only occasionally has money in it.

Dawn is engaging the younger generation and responding to Yelp reviews.

Delkwood Grill is closed.

They closed in November 2024.

Their Yelp score is still a three.

The reviews either seem to be five star or one star.

Reviews in 2022 onwards are mostly five star reviews.

The Spot Update - Help My Yelp Update - Open or Closed?

Help My Yelp The Spot

In this Help My Yelp episode, Monti Carlo visits The Spot in Montclair, New Jersey.

The Spot is owned by Cassie.

The restaurant is a failing comfort food restaurant.

Monti says that the area is what she calls foodie heaven.

Within a mile of this block alone, they have over 35 restaurants that have 4.5 stars on Yelp or higher.

The Spot only have 2.5 stars on Yelp.

Owner Cassie has some big-time problems with both the food and the service.

She wants Monti to help her start turning things around at the restaurant.

Cassie has done everything at the restaurant all by herself.

She sourced all the furniture, wrote all the recipes, and trained all the kitchen staff.

They serve American comfort foods from homemade soups and salads to mac and cheese and burgers.

They also serve breakfast all day.

Cassie is still putting in around $20,000 a month into the restaurant.

Cassie has around six months before she will have to close the doors.

She says that this will make her feel defeated.

Cassie does not have a formal chef in the kitchen.

Monti says that this is a huge red flag to her.

Ernesto said he does not know how to cook.

There is a language barrier between Cassie and Ernesto.

Monti says that she wants to see what Ernesto can do.

With the white truffle mac and cheese, they have an amazing foundation.

The Yelp reviewers come into the restaurant.

Cassie is busy decorating.

She is neglecting her responsibilities as an owner.

There is absolutely zero leadership in this kitchen.

The chicken that is served is overdone.

One of the Yelp reviewers says that he wouldn’t tell anyone about this place.

Another reviewer sends the mac and cheese back to the kitchen.

Monti thinks it is time for Cassie to meet some really unhappy Yelpers face-to-face.

The Yelpers give the restaurant an average of two stars.

Everything Cassie has worked for up until now and her vision for the future is at stake.

She doesn’t know what else she would do besides this.

The next morning, it’s time to start digging Cassie out of that 2.5-star hole.

Starting with the inconsistent white mac and cheese and the stiff fried chicken.

There is no leadership in the kitchen.

The result is an empty dining room that could be closed in the next six months.

The white truffle mac and cheese is a solid dish but Monti doesn’t want just solid dishes.

She wants it to be social media gold.

Monti shows Cassie a better way to make the mac and cheese.

Today, Monti will put Ernesto to the test.

She has Ernesto create three different versions of the mac and cheese.

The second dish was really lacking.

The third didn’t have much truffle oil at all.

Monti says she needs him to focus and follow the recipe.

Cassie’s cooks are completely out of control and the food is not good.

Monti brings in more Yelp reviewers.

Cassie is hanging out with her staff.

The chicken that is served is undercooked.

Cassie is FaceTiming someone instead of being present in the restaurant.

Monti heads into the restaurant and talks to Cassie.

She tells Cassie she needs to talk to the tables.

Cassie begins taking control of the kitchen.

Cassie is a young restaurateur so there are going to be mistakes.

At some point, you have to stop, and decide to make changes.

Monti reads the reviews of the second lot of Yelp reviewers to Cassie.

Their rating went up to 3.2 stars, much improved on the previous day.

Cassie is so grateful for Monti’s time.

What Happened Next at The Spot?

Two months later, Cassie has hired a full-time chef.

Cassie says that the kitchen has been much more consistent.

The Spot recorded its best weekend ever.

The Spot closed in 2018.

They had a 3 star Yelp score at the time of closure.

An improvement of half a star from before the show.

Reviews seem to suggest that the service was well below standard.

Paco’s Tacos - Help My Yelp Update - Open or Closed?

Help My Yelp Pacos Tacos

In this Help My Yelp episode, Monti Carlo visits Paco’s Tacos in Brooklyn, New York.

Paco’s Tacos is owned by Ricky and Danny.

The restaurant has two stars on Yelp.

The situation is that there are two Italian guys running a Mexican restaurant.

Before they bought the restaurant, they had never even tasted Mexican food, let alone cooked it.

Ricky says that if two years ago you would’ve told him he had a Mexican restaurant, he wouldn’t have believed you.

Danny says he didn’t know how popular Mexican food was because he never had it before.

He now eats Mexican food every day and is converted to the cuisine.

Ricky says that there are plenty of Italian restaurants, especially in their neighborhood.

They don’t need another one so they decided to stand out with a different cuisine.

The signature dishes at the restaurant are the Chicken Guadalajara, steak Durango and the Paco taco.

Based on their low Yelp reviews, it’s a miracle they are still in business.

It’s dinner time at Paco’s Tacos and Monti wants to see a service.

Monti has invited a number of local Yelp reviewers to the restaurant for a service and to give feedback on the food.

Monti’s Yelpers are already inside the restaurant.

They aren’t impressed with the food that they have ordered.

The steak is very chewy and the sauce is great but it’s Italian.

Danny is drinking on the job and not acting like an owner should be.

Monti has seen enough of the service to see where they issues are.

Monti sits down with Ricky and Danny.

Ricky says that when it comes to food, taste is different for everyone.

Monti tells them about the undercover Yelp reviewers, who were reviewing the food.

The Yelp reviewers say that the food felt like Italian food trying to be Mexican.

They should rename this place Luigi’s Tacos.

The next day at Paco’s Taco’s and Monti is taking over to make changes.

Her first move is to make changes to the menu.

She gets rid of anything on the menu that does not fit their brand.

Monti wants to get rid of anything that would confuse diners as to it being an Italian restaurant.

Monti is working with Paco to fix the flavors of the food and to make the dishes taste Mexican.

Monti says that you must taste the food constantly when cooking.

Danny says that this is the first time he has eaten guacamole.

Monti shows them how to properly cut the beef for their dishes.

The food tastes great and tastes more like Mexican food should taste.

Next, they have to ensure that the service is great too.

They have shortened the menu and improved their cooking techniques.

While Danny and Ricky make their final preparations, the staff are prepping as well.

Under the ruse of monitoring the changes, they are once again setting up surveillance cameras.

There will be six new Yelpers coming in to review the changes that they have made.

Danny says he is ready and he will be talking to the tables.

Monti says she loves Ricky and Danny and she is hoping for their success.

Ricky thanks her for her confidence in the pair.

The new menu is concise, to the point, and easy to sell.

The dinner service has officially begun and their first Yelper is walking through the door.

Danny disappoints the customers as he does not know what kind of tequila they sell.

The guests say that the sauce taste like Vicks VapoRub.

This is because they aren’t tasting the food in the kitchen before they send it out.

Monti heads to the kitchen to find out what is going wrong.

The food isn’t coming out right and the execution is off.

Ricky says that this is a good day to start drinking on the job.

Their coordination in the kitchen needs a little work.

The flan was dropped and all of the flan is on the floor.

The dinner service is over and it was not a success.

Ricky and Danny did not know about the Yelpers.

Monti tells them that there were 6 reviewers in the restaurant to review the changes.

Their reviews will be posted after the service.

You can tell that the staff cares about the food and the restaurant as they are upset.

The Yelpers saw a big improvement from the first ones but it was still reviewed lower than they would like.

Danny says that the future of the restaurant looks bright.

What Happened Next at Paco’s Tacos?

Two months after the show, Paco’s Tacos has earned an average 3.2 stars from their Yelp reviews.

Paco's Tacos is closed.

They closed in 2017.

Their Yelp reviews had declined dramatically shortly before closure.

Barbeque Street - Help My Yelp Update - Open or Closed?

Help My Yelp Barbeque Street

In this Help my Yelp episode, Monti visits Barbeque Street in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Barbeque Street is a family-oriented town just 30 miles outside of Atlanta.

It is owned by Malcom Wood and Don Jenson.

The locals love their low and slow barbecue.

They have almost 50 nearby barbecue places.

Barbecue Street once had an awesome five-star rating on Yelp but now it’s dropped to just three stars.

Malcom says that their signature dishes at Barbeque Street are baby back ribs, green beans, and catfish.

Don says that guest numbers are way down.

He says that when they first started, they were the barbeque place because there were no other barbecue places around.

Malcom says that people would come from all over the place to eat with them.

This restaurant has around 150 seats.

They can’t even fill one sitting on the restaurant right now.

Monti says that this spells death if you can’t fill the restaurant twice in one evening.

Right now, they are around 35% lower on revenue.

Their Yelp reviews are declining.

Don says it would be a heartbreak if they closed.

Monti tries some of the barbeque and tries some of the sides.

The beans were overcooked and need salt.

Monti says that their next step is to get the surveillance set up.

She plans to invite some elite Yelp reviewers in to check out the place.

They will taste the food and talk about how they would rate this restaurant.

They are about to find out what real customers have to say about Barbeque Street.

The Yelp reviewers order their food.

The ribs are microwaved.

Don and Malcolm are stuck in the Dark ages when it comes to kitchen prep.

It’s ruining their food and cutting into their business.

Monti says that it can be difficult to hear criticism.

However, you can’t fix a problem until you know what the problem is.

The catfish was too tough and too fishy.

The ribs were tough, greasy and seemed stale.

Don says that this has to be an honest take and thinks that the reviewers are right.

Don and Malcom haven’t updated their kitchen in around 20 years.

If they don’t start appealing to current tastes and update their flavors and techniques, the competition is going to win .

Monti says they have a lot of work to do and she is excited to get started.

Monti shows them a better recipe for their green beans.

She shows them how to make their catfish fillet with more finesse.

Monti wants their ribs to be the best in all of Georgia.

She has invited her friend, Robby Royal, to come down and show them good ribs.

Robby Royal is the Georgia Barbeque Association’s team of the year, pork team of the year, and rib team of the year grand champion.

Taking control over the smoker is going to help to improve their business.

Together Monti and Robby give Don and Malcom some tips on improving their Barbecue.

Don and Malcom are running Barbeque Street with a ton of new directives.

Don says that the previous day was one of his toughest days in life.

The next day, he is really optimistic about the changes that they have made.

Monti is sending another group of Yelp reviewers to see how well the changes are received.

Monti says they are doing everything right so far.

The green beans are not overly mushy.

However, Malcom tells a cook to use the microwave.

This is despite Monti saying that they will not be using the microwaves.

If Barbeque Street keeps using their microwave, the disaster will continue.

Malcom says that some of the changes they made that day were outstanding.

Monti tells them about the Yelp reviewers that came in that day.

She reads them the reviews and they are much better.

Don says that this is almost unbelievable with the changes that they have made.

Monti believes if they keep increasing their fresh techniques and new recipes, they’re going to give their competition a run for their money.

Don says as a token of their appreciation, they will pack the microwaves up and send them to Monti’s home.

Don says he is just kidding.

What Happened Next at Barbeque Street?

Two months later, Barbeque Street’s overall Yelp rating has increased by half a star.

Rib sales have doubled.

Don is now the full-time pitmaster.

Barbeque Street closed in 2019.

Their Yelp Reviews didn't improve after the show.

They had a 3.5 star rating by the time they closed.
