In this Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service episode, Gordon visits MacGregor's in Havre De Grace, Maryland.
MacGregor's Restaurant is owned by Stephanie Golumbek.
Gordon arrives at night and he cannot get into the gate.
Instead, he sneaks in through the basement.
He has been told that the place is haunted and goes to look in the walk-in freezer.
Inside, he finds lots of food items with mold growing all over on them.
There are lots of pre-prepared and cut frozen items that indicate laziness.
There is frozen seafood, even though they are located by the water.
He then uses a black light and the stove lights up.
There is also grease buildup on the fan and there is a lot of junk piled up in a corner.
In the dining room, there is a wall of pictures of the previous owner, who is retired and living in Florida.
A fan mysteriously comes on by itself and Gordon takes it as a sign to make his exit.
By morning, Gordon arrives in a dog grooming van and the restaurant is fully set up for a fake reality show.
Stephanie bought it two years ago but had started working there in 2001.
She has a close affinity for Dan, the previous owner, because he took her under his wing.
The manager Cristan was sweet-talked into taking on the role when Dan was still in charge.
Stephanie’s Mom Sharon helps with bookkeeping and offers to help financially but Stephanie refuses.
Server Brando has been there for six years and the head chef Mike is also dating Stephanie.
Mike started as a server and randomly decided to be the next chef, without any training or experience in the kitchen.
He tells Stephanie he will be making some cooking decisions but Stephanie does not go against him.
Gordon has evidence of the hauntings, as things have been seen falling off tables.
Sammy and Rock are sent in along with the customers as the spies.
Gordon sees bread, shrimp, and chicken all cooking on the same grill.
Gordon asks the spies to say they are allergic to shellfish to see what the staff will do.
They use canned crab meat to cook the dishes.
The ordered chicken is cooked right on top of the shrimp and is served.
The spies hate the food as the crab cake is bland and cold in the middle.
The chicken tastes like shrimp, which would have been bad if the shellfish allergy was real.
Gordon goes in and asks all the customers to leave, while calling all the staff together.
Gordon calls out Chef Mike on his cooking practice as there was cross-contamination.
He shows them the moldy food and also calls them out on telling customers they have fresh seafood when it is all frozen and canned.
Gordon also calls out Stephanie for still dedicating the restaurant to a retired millionaire when she is the owner.
Gordon takes her to the dungeon, the storage space of the old things Dan had at the restaurant.
She tries to justify it by saying she might need the items later.
She breaks down in tears when Gordon confronts her about that decision.
Gordon confronts her on the decision to hire her unqualified boyfriend as head chef.
He has many bad practices that are bringing down the restaurant.
The next day, Gordon takes Stephanie away from the restaurant.
He asks her to show him her commitment to change by destroying all the junk from Dan she had been holding on to.
In a rage room setup, she is given protective gear and a baseball bat to smash the items.
She enthusiastically gets into it, hitting the items with the bat .
Stephanie is put into a steamroller to completely crush the items.
She is enthusiastic to finally let go of the past.
She promises to make a decision about Mike if he cannot step up in the kitchen.
Later, the staff are all let into the newly redecorated MacGregors.
It is now warm and more upscale with a distinct bar and dining area.
There is a VIP area that was the former junk area.
The kitchen has been deep cleaned and updated with new tools and equipment.
Gordon comes in and serves dishes from their new menu.
They are all made with fresh ingredients and seafood.
Gordon goes to the kitchen with Mike and motivates him to do his best for the love he has for Stephanie.
Gordon teaches him how to make a fresh crab dish.
He serves Stephanie and the staff the dish and they love the taste.
The insider is revealed to be Cristan, which is shocking to them.
She did it for her love for Stephanie and for the business.
They quickly set up and customers are let in for the relaunch.
On relaunch, Stephanie is acting more like a boss and Mike is in charge of the kitchen.
He is cooking properly with no cross contamination.
Some local customers are shocked that the food has improved so much.
Gordon is happy with what he sees and he commends Mike and then Stephanie.
As a parting gift, Dan sent a video message to Stephanie, telling her she was the best thing for the restaurant in his time.
He says that he has faith in her as she makes the restaurant hers.
