In this Gordon Ramsay's Secret Service episode, Gordon Ramsay visits Crazy Burger in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
Crazy Burger is owned by Mike Maxon.
Gordon gets into the restaurant through the back and notices a smell.
When he puts his bag down, he notices ants all over cans, the counter and running up his leg.
In the fridge, he finds fungus growing in the corners and beef sitting in water.
The oil in the fryer is murky and the grill is covered in grime.
Food is stored underneath along with moldy tofu.
He is interrupted by mice and sets a mouse camera to catch evidence of their presence while he is gone.
Gordon is disappointed because the restaurant was once celebrated.
It seems to have become very run down.
The next day, Gordon is in his trailer watching the staff at work.
Mike is seen cleaning a grease trap, dirtying the floor.
He has owned the restaurant since 1995.
The restaurant had been on Guy Fieri’s show Diners, Drive Ins and Dives in 2010.
Since then, they have seen hard times.
Mike is the head cook and Norma Jean and Jermaine are the line cooks.
They say Mike has been a father figure to them as he is a nice guy.
The service begins and customers come in.
Mike is seen being unsanitary as he uses spices that Gordon swabbed and were found to have bacteria.
Gordon reviews the mouse cam footage and finds evidence of mice in the kitchen.
Gordon watches as Mike drops a patty on the floor and retrieves it to put back on the grill.
He then uses his spatula to clean the floor and then uses it to continue cooking on the grill.
Sammi and Rock are sent in as spies for Gordon.
He asks Rock to say he is Pescetarian so his fish burger needs to be cooked separately from meat.
The server Kansas tells them they scrape the grill but have nothing separate.
Their ordered smoothies arrive and they are sour and bitter.
Gordon sees them make the smoothies with unwashed and unprepared fruits.
The fish burger is made on the same grill with the same spatula.
When it is served, it tastes disgusting.
The pancakes taste like pork, beef and fish from being cooked on the same grill.
Gordon sees Mike and a staff member go off camera to another storage area that Gordon had no idea existed.
The insider tells him to go to Mike's office and Gordon sneaks into the office.
He finds more things hoarded, including a fridge with mahi-mahi that is completely freezer burnt.
There are mice droppings all over the office.
Gordon goes directly to the kitchen to stop the cooking.
He stops customers from eating while apologizing on behalf of the owner.
The staff is lined up and Gordon tells them all he found out in the restaurant.
Mike is in denial about what Gordon tells them.
Gordon shows them the evidence of cross-contamination and the frozen meat in water.
He shows them the bad storage, the dirty grill, and describes all that Mike did in the back that was unsanitary.
Mike is not happy to be called out on what he has done wrong.
When Gordon walks out, Mike has his team start cleaning and bringing out bleach, which surprises Gordon.
Gordon goes back in to compliment them on their effort.
The next day, Gordon takes Mike to the beach.
They dig up messages from the staff that have been put into bottles and buried.
All the messages are positive, saying how much they feel like a family and love their family.
Mike is touched by the messages and he is reminded to find the spark he had when he started the business.
The staff help rip out the old restaurant and deep clean it so the mice have nowhere to hide.
Gordon's staff did a much needed renovation.
The staff are let in to see the new space and it looks so much better and open without the booths.
There is a beach vibe and the colors are light and fresh with new seating.
Mike is moved to tears.
Gordon takes them to the terrace, it has also got a facelift with bright colors, new furnishings and canopies.
The kitchen has new equipment and tools.
A deep cleaning has also been done.
Mike will be in the front of house.
Jermaine will be stepping up in the kitchen and is given a new set of expensive knives to start his culinary journey.
Jermaine is so grateful and is happy to cook alongside Gordon for the staff.
Sammi and Rock come in.
Gordon announces that they will be lending a hand for the relaunch.
The insider is then revealed to be Jermaine.
Mike says it makes sense as he truly loves the restaurant.
The restaurant is then reopened to customers including some influencers who will spread word about the business.
Jermaine is cooking while Rock expedites and Mike is interacting with customers.
On relaunch, food is made and sent out quickly.
Gordon goes to get Jermaine to the influencers who give direct feedback.
They promise to sing the praises of the restaurant.
Gordon sits with Mike on the patio.
Mike is proud of the buzz and how busy they are.
What Happened Next at Crazy Burger?
Crazy Burger is open.
Michael has said that he believes that the spatula scene, the cleanliness and other scenes were exaggerated.
He also said that they learned some good lessons.
They have returned some of the old dishes and plan to return some more.
The opening hours of the restaurant have changed.
They are now open on Tuesdays.
Reviews are mostly positive.
There is praise for the food and service.
As with most of these shows, there are some fake reviews.
The restaurant had appeared in Diners, Drive Ins and Dives Season 8.
It also appeared on Triple D Nation in 2023.
