Hell's Kitchen Season 16

Hell's Kitchen Season 16 aired September 23 to February 02, 2017.

It aired on Fox Network and there were 18 contestants.

The prize for the winner was a head chef position at Yardbird Southern Table & Bar at The Venetian Las Vegas.

In this season, Gordon Ramsay was judge, Marino Monferrato was Maître d'.

Andi van Willigan-Cutspec was sous chef for the red team and Aaron Mitrano was sous chef for the blue team.

Aaron Smock Aaron Smock was a Culinary Student from Frankenmuth, Michigan.

He was eliminated in episode 5 due to his inexperience and lack of confidence.

He was praised by Gordon for his passion and skills.

After Hell's Kitchen, Aaron returned to his previous role at The Homestead as a Banquet Chef.

After this he returned to his home town.

Aaron worked at both Calypso Mediterranean Grill and Prost Wine Bar & Charcuterie.

He later worked at Mission Table as Executive Chef.

Aaron has moved into working in the wine industry.

He is now Assistant Tasting Room Manager at Bowers Harbor Vineyards.


Andrew Pearce Andrew Pearce was from Orlando, Florida and competed in season 15.

He was eliminated in episode 13 after his New York Strip steak failed to impress his fellow contestants.

After Hell's Kitchen, Andrew returned to his previous role at Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House at SugarHouse Casino as Executive Chef.

He later moved to Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chop House at Rivers Casino as Executive Chef.

Andrew is currently Executive Chef at Monterey Grill.


Aziza Young Aziza Young was a Kitchen Manager from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

She was eliminated in episode 6 due to her poor performance during the service but praised her heart.

After Hell's Kitchen, Aziza became Executive Chef at Mangia Qui.

She left after a few months and became a Private Chef.

She cooks for professional athletes.

Aziza also does cookery events and teaches culinary classes.

Through Chat & Chew Popup she does pop up dining experiences in the home.

In 2017, she took part in Reality Rally’s Celebrity Chef Cook Off.

In February 2018, she won a People's Choice Award for best Short Rib Lasagna.

She was a Chopped Runner up in 2019.

Aziza is a supporter of Everybody Eats Philly.


Devin Simpson Devin Simpson was an Assistant Restaurant Manager from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

He was eliminated in episode 12 due to his poor performance during the service and his struggles to lead.

After Hell's Kitchen, Devin returned to Kickin' Chicken as Assistant Manager.

He also offered cooking lessons and personal chef services.

Devin was working at Gravy in Raleigh as the General Manager.

He moved to Saltwater Cowboys as their Executive Chef.


Genaro Delillo Genaro Delillo was a Sous Chef from Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

He was eliminated in episode 2 due to his poor services and lack of passion.

After Hell's Kitchen, Genaro returned to Downtown Lounge and his position as a sous chef.

He was a judge at Iron Chef Hamburg.

Genaro did cookery demonstrations and was a photographer.

In March 2017 he was charged with disorderly conduct for playing loud music.

In May 2017, he was charged with theft from a department store.

Genaro Delillo sadly died unexpectedly on 7th August 2020.


Heather Williams Heather Williams was a Sous Chef from Easton, Pennsylvania.

She was Hell's Kitchen season 16 runner up losing out to Ryan.

She lost after her service was more fraught with problems, she took her defeat with grace.

After Hell's Kitchen, Heather returned to Marblehead Chowder House and her position as a sous chef.

She later worked for Bon Appétit Management Company as a Sous Chef.

Heather did several cookery demonstrations and events.

In 2018, she took part in Reality Rally.

Heather returned for season 18.


Heidi Parent Heidi Parent was an Executive Chef from Auburn, Maine.

She was eliminated in 15 and was praised for her strong performances.

She was allowed to keep her jacket.

After Hell's Kitchen, Heidi went to work at Capital Area Technical Center teaching culinary arts.

She remains in the post in 2025.


Jessica Boynton Jessica Boynton was a University Chef from Raleigh, North Carolina.

She was eliminated in episode 3 due to her nominating herself.

She revealed that she had already packed her bags to leave the competition.

After Hell's Kitchen, Jessica returned to her position at The Cowfish.

She was training to be a Kitchen Manager.

Jessica got engaged and had a second baby.


Johnny McDevitt Johnny McDevitt was a Burger Chef from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He was eliminated in episode 8 due to his second poor service on fish and for being the reason behind his teams failure.

After Hell's Kitchen, Johnny returned to Sketch Burger and his position as a Burger Chef.

He moved to work as a chef at West End Grill and later he was a chef at Pitchers Pub.

Johnny was owner of a cookie making company called CookieManCo.

He has left the culinary world and is now working in roofing.


Kimberly Roth Kimberly Roth was a Sushi Chef from Ontario, New York.

She was eliminated in episode 14 due to her poor performance during the service.

She was praised for her improvement during the process.

After Hell's Kitchen, Kimberly owns catering company The Bamboo Panda Catering Company.

She went to work at sushi restaurant Nosh and later at California Rollin'.

Kimberly serves sushi from The Back Alley Grill, her food truck.

She was 2017's Reality Rally champion of and in 2018 defended the title.

Kimberly also offers Sip & Sushi, sushi culinary classes at Casa Larga.


Kimberly Ann Ryan Kimberly Ann Ryan was an Event Chef from Traverse City, Michigan.

Kimberly was the Hell's Kitchen season 16 winner due to her skills, drive and command in the kitchen.

After Hell's Kitchen, Kimberly took up the head chef position at Yardbird Southern Table & Bar at The Venetian Las Vegas.

She left the position to return home and was head chef at The Cook’s House.

Kimberly has suffered from ill health and has had a number of operations.

Most recently she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Matt Hearn Matt Hearn was a Sauté Chef from Los Angeles, California.

He was eliminated in episode 10 due to his poor performance on fish and his arrogance.

After Hell's Kitchen, Matt worked at at Happy Hour Bar & Tapa as a chef.

He later moved to be a chef at 1933 in Bakersfield.

Matt is currently Culinary Director at Lumberjaxes Axe Throwing Phoenix.


Pat Tortorello Pat Tortorello was a Culinary Instructor from Belleville, New Jersey.

He was eliminated in episode 1 due to his poor performance and allowing Paulie to take over.

After Hell's Kitchen, Pat works at Performance Foodservice as an Area Manager.

In 2017, he took part in charity cookery event Reality Reality.

Pat is part of band Brass Knuckle Barbie.

He had previously won Jeopardy in 1999.


Paulie Giganti Jr Paulie Giganti Jr was an Executive Chef from Brooklyn, New York.

He was eliminated in episode 14 for his inconsistent services and failure to take responsibility for his mistakes.

After Hell's Kitchen, Paulie returned to his position of Executive Chef/owner of Birra restaurant.

Paulie sadly died in April 2017.

He was found unresponsive at his home due to an accidental drug overdose.


Rajeeyah Gia Young Rajeeyah aka Gia Young was a Catering Chef from Queens, New York.

She was eliminated in episode 4 due to her consecutive poor performances, attitude and giving up on her team.

After Hell's Kitchen, Rajeeyah returned to New York.

She went to culinary school at The Culinary School of America.

Gia opened her own catering company Sinfully-G-licious.

She had roles in customer service and sales alongside this.


Shaina Hayden Shaina Hayden was a Banquet Chef from Long Island, New York.

She was eliminated in episode 10 due to her deteriorating performances.

Gordon commended her strong start in the competition.

After Hell's Kitchen, Shaina is Executive Chef/owner at Say Your Grace LLC.

She offered a restaurant and catering service.

Shaina also offered private chef services, meal prep and hosts culinary events.

In 2019, she opened restarant Mad Apples in East Stroudsburg.

In 2025, she plans to move the business to Nashville, Tennessee..


Wendy Mendez Wendy Mendez was a Line Cook and Pastry Chef from Bronx, New York.

She was eliminated in episode 11 due to her deteriorating performances and lack of confidence but praised her palate.

After Hell's Kitchen, Wendy returned to her previous role as a Line cook.

In 2022, she produced a cookery segment.

She has moved back to New York.


William Koop Wynkoop William "Koop" Wynkoop was a Kitchen Manager from Carey, Ohio.

He was eliminated in episode 9 due to his inconsistent performances.

He also had a temper tantrum in which he broke a chair against a wall.

After Hell's Kitchen, Koop worked at Tavern 101 in Ada, Ohio.

He now works in automotives.
